I attended the Pennsbury School District's meeting on April 9, 2007 to try to better understand what is to take place with respect to Pennsbury's Elementary Redistricting Plan for the 2007-2008 school year. From what I could tell, this plan is a temporary fix to an overcrowding problem at the elementary schools.  My notes below are not to be construed as an opinion on this matter, it is derived from factual information from various sources at the meeting.

Phase I would move four modular classrooms from Oxford Valley to Fallsington upon completion of renovations at Oxford Valley in order to receive state reimbursement for those renovation costs. By moving these modulars, they will reduce capacity at Oxford Valley by 100.  The plan is to move 100 students from Oxford Valley to Village Park.

Phase II would move certain neighborhoods/streets from Edgewood to Eleanor Roosevelt, and from Eleanor Roosevelt to Fallsington.  Fallsington is operating at about 49%1 capacity and Edgewood is at 92%. Not part of this phase, is a plan to renovate the basement Makefield to accommodate more classroom space (an increase of 100 students).  Makefield is operating at 94%.  If they can not keep enrollment under or at capacity, they may have to move some children to 'sister' schools.

You can check the list of streets affected by the redistricting but as always, please verify this information with the school district directly as this plan has not been voted on and could change.
